I'm not sure where to post this! Please don't flag!
I'm looking for help, direction, ideas, advice etc, on modifying a steel frame tricycle for my son.
.
.
He's special needs and has low muscle tone in his bottom half.
So, we do things in different ways and at different times than "average".
AND finding this at an affordable price, I had to get it for him.
Just like all parents, helping your child achieve milestones is PRICELESS.
Even tho he just turned 9 years old, it is well made and holds up to 300 lbs, which is why I got it.
We all know most of these are made of plastic and have weight limits so he missed out on 99% of ride on fun.
And I'll be dammed if he misses anymore.
However, his long lanky legs are stopping him from enjoying it.
He either has to position his feet oddly and take away from his strength.
.
.
or his knees hit the handle bars when he turns.
There has to be a way! And I could possibly do it myself, if I can find out what to do! I'm just not the best with measurements, threads, different hardware out there, etc.
My ideas were to see if there's an extension bolt of some kind to add on both side of bottom front frame.
.
.
Or, pedal extenders that go further out.
.
.
Those are the only two things I could think of, without a welder, but I still just don't know where to begin.
And the problem is trusting my work without anyone's input lol #safety1st
I'm including 2 pictures.
1 of the trike and the other has circles I drew around the areas I think are possible to modify.
If there's anyone out there to help in anyway, even if it's just an idea! I will make this happen for him even if I have to pay someone:) please help!
