Description: Texas Research International (TRI), a group of profitable privately-owned companies with 145 employees and $45 mm in revenue, is seeking an Accounting Director or Controller to lead the accounting team and accounting operations across its 14 operating entities as well as manage its government financial compliance programs.
This position will involve working side by side with the accounting team, providing support to leadership & project managers and report to the CFO/COO.
The selected candidate will lead, implement, and improve TRI’s financial accounting, reporting, audits, and compliance in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Contractor Audit Agency (DCAA) rules, regulations, and policies and with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Duties / Responsibilities: Applies advanced accounting skills to perform and/or oversee routine and non-routine tasks involving the processing and reconciliation of receivables, billing, payroll, accounts payable, contract revenue calculations, contract cost accumulation and reporting, indirect rate calculations, fixed assets, general ledger, and preparing financial statements.
Leads the monthly closing procedures, including preliminary analysis of financial results and preparation of month end financial reporting package.
Reconcile intercompany balances and prepare elimination entries and consolidated financial statements.
Interface with government auditors on accounting matters and serve as primary point of contact for audits conducted by the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA).
Ensure compliance with the DCAA and all government regulations, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
Oversees preparation of all documents/files for annual financial statement audit and serves as primary point of contact.
Takes the lead in preparing the Annual Budget.
Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems.
Conducts research & analysis, billed and unbilled receivable analysis and revenue recognition.
Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls.
Manage and lead the accounting team by providing Team Members with ongoing, timely, candid, and constructive feedback, developing Team Members to their full potential.

Requirements: Qualifications: 8+ years of progressive accounting experience required with 3+ years FAR/DFARS compliance a must.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
Intimate knowledge of government accounting and project/program requirements - FAR, DCAA, DCMA, R&D accounting, and SBIR/STTR.
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Organizational and time management skills: Must be able to work within time constraints while managing multiple priorities.
This position will require abundant flexibility with priorities, schedules, and dues dates.
Attention to detail while seeing the overall objective and ability to multi-task with composure is mandatory.
ERP and related software experience: Acumatica, Velixo, Concur.
Not required but is a plus.
Good oral and written communications Ability to exercise excellent judgment and direct subordinates clearly and effectively.
Ability to collaborate with immediate team members and across departments.
Initiative-taking with strong analytical aptitude.
Strong mathematical aptitude with experience and proficiency in working with numbers.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
This is a FT, In-Person position.
