Job Overview Reporting to the Banquet Chef de Cuisine, as a Steward Supervisor you play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of cleanliness, hygiene, and organization within the Food and Beverage department.
Your responsibilities include overseeing the Steward team, ensuring the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas, and maintaining a consistent quality flow of dishwashing and kitchen operations.
Duties & Responsibilities The Steward Supervisor is accountable for the day-to-day supervision and training of the Stewarding team.
Assist Stewarding team with their job functions when needed.
Oversee the maintenance and operation of dishwashing machines to ensure efficient and sanitary cleaning of all kitchen and tableware items.
Responsible for ensuring delicate items and pots and pans are hand washed.
Ensure all dishes, glassware, and silverware are spotlessly clean and polished.
Lead and assist in the cleaning and sanitation of kitchen equipment, work surfaces, and kitchen tools to maintain high standards of hygiene.
Monitor the cleaning and disinfection of all kitchen and dining areas, including floors, countertops, and service stations.
Ensure trash bins are empty and maintain a neat and clean appearance throughout the hotel's food service areas.
Assist in the transportation of food items to and from the kitchen to ensure timely service.
Ensure kitchen supplies are stocked and restocked as needed.
Assist Chefs and kitchen staff with food prep and plating as required.
Collaborate closely with the kitchen and serving staff to maintain a seamless and efficient operation.
Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure a coordinated approach to service.
Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines, including those outlined by the health department.
Follow policies and procedures to ensure the safety of guests, staff, and property.
Required Skill & Abilities Ability to use kitchen tools safely and appropriately, keeping knives sharpened, using proper knife handling procedures, and engaging all appropriate safety devices prior to operating equipment.
Report maintenance issues immediately to appropriate personnel.
Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods to the Chef to ensure optimum service to guests.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company Food Safety Programs within assigned area of responsibility, as well as all local, state, and federal regulations.
Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
Support all colleagues and treat them with dignity and respect.
Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other colleagues and departments.
Partner with and assist others to promote an environment of teamwork and achieve common goals.
Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Flexibility to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
