PURPOSE:
Exemplifies and ensures strong customer service in all areas of the job.
Responsible for total store operations and achieving sales and profit objectives.
Plans, organizes directs and controls all store activities.
Ensure store financial and other objectives are reached, consistent with Company policies and procedures, federal, state and local laws.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership: • Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly Customer Service.
Responsible for total store CSI (Customer Service Index) and communicating with customers on total store resolutions.
• Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom announcements and one-on-one customer interaction.
• Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately.
Receive and appropriately resolves customer grievances.
Store Director closes the loop between customer and employee relations by resolving customer’s critique of store and/or employees.
• Primary responsibility, total store operations.
In that regard, implements Company and Division merchandising, operating and sales initiatives.
As well as driving sales achieving gross profit and managing expenses.
• Plans daily operation, monitors production process following company procedures and profitability.
• Communicates with Operation Specialists for support on execution of sales, promotions and division programs.
• Communicates Company goals, objectives, policies, practices and procedures to department managers and employees, ensures compliance with in all departments and sets total store expectations.
• Meets at least weekly with department heads to review ads, sales plans and store promotions.
In the event of Store Director’s absence, ensures that an alternate manager conducts such meeting(s).
• Creates and maintains positive community relations.
Develops, promotes and maintains positive communication channels with manufacturer’s representatives, Store, Division and Corporate personnel.
Monitors market conditions, trends and competitors’ activities.
• Maintains a good rapport with vendors and Warehouse.
• Ability to operate computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product.
Operates computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product.
Requires basic knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Email.
Food Safety& Sanitation/ Compliance/ Policies: • Ensures that the company’s safety and health initiatives are implemented and communicated to associates.
Emphasizes safety and health code compliance in all work practices.
• Maintains integrity in Food Safety and Sanitation as well as keeps store compliant in all areas.
• Solely responsible for food safety and sanitation within the store and all departments.
• Pulls and ensures all employees are compliant with Food Safety and Sanitation, HIPAA, COBC (Code of Business Conduct), Meat Grinding and Tracking Log, Texas Work Place Benefits Plan Manager, Food Handlers Manager and any other compliance company and state specific.
• Working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.

• Ensures total store compliance, including but not limited to Division scheduling initiatives, policies, wage and payroll guidelines, Time Clock Policy, benefit plans, grooming and dress code standards, child labor and other employment laws.
Maintains accurate and complete records, consistent with the law and records retention policies.
• Complies with and ensures compliance with company grooming standards and dress code.
• Reviews and approves all department schedules in advance of posting to ensure appropriate staffing and adequate coverage.
• Responsible and accountable for maintaining good store conditions, product quality and rotation, labeling standards, and code date compliance in all departments.
Conducts daily inspections of store conditions and coaches employees in the process.
• Uses and operates related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters and Sterilox machine.
• Implements emergency procedures in the event of equipment and software malfunctions.
• Ensures that proper temperature levels for product are maintained.
Complies with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, Company and code dating policies.
• Complies with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortage, stocking and rotating product.
Adheres to product temperature and storage guidelines and follows proper packaging techniques.
HR Resources: • Ultimately accountable for staffing, recruiting, hiring, and training within store.
Evaluates employee job performance and makes personnel decisions such as promotion, termination and disciplinary action, including completing necessary paperwork.
Considers the recommendations of Grocery, Drug Managers or Assistant Store Director (If Applicable) in hiring, promoting terminating and disciplinary decisions.
• Conducts formal employee evaluations as necessary per Division guidelines.
Identifies training needs of key associates for future development and ensures completion of such training.
• Appropriately resolves employee relations, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, working off the clock and violations of the law, with guidance and support from the Human Resources Department.
Builds and maintains positive associate morale.
• Maintains and safeguards confidentiality concerning employees, store sales, and Company information.
• Clearly and accurately provides guidance and instruction to department managers, supervisors and associates.
• Oversees and ensures compliance with; proper cash handling procedures, accounting of sales, safe procedures and Safeguards Company assets.
Financials: • Controls shrink.
Maintains and controls inventory levels in the backroom areas and on the sales floor per Division guidelines.
Develops operating budgets and controls all in-store operating, maintenance, expense and supply costs.
• Processes and completes or oversees the completion of all required reports and administrative paper work.
Has a complete understanding of reports including but, not limited to P&L (Profit and Loss Statement) and any other store reports.
• Prepare sales and inventory reports.
Physical inventory taken every 4 weeks.
Responsible for accurate inventory of all merchandise, supplies and equipment.
Properly conducts or oversees inventories and independent audits.

• Recommends the expenditure for improvement or repair of store equipment and building to district manager.
• Ensures that merchandise is correctly priced and displayed and that shelves are clean and properly maintained.
• Responsible for performing all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately and with honesty and integrity.

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professional demeanor in regards to customers and co-workers.

• Ability to frequently reach, lift and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs.
Bends, stoops and reaches frequently.
Pushes and pulls fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Performs repetitious arm movement to prepare, package and display products.
• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
Requires knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
Must have knowledge of product variety, standards, perishability, product handling, sanitation, labeling and department policies and procedures.
• Operates telephone, pallet jack, hand truck, knives, scissors, safety cutters and Sterilox machine.
Utilizes cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Operates computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product.
