*Assistant Cat Care Technician*
*Company Overview:*
*Exciting opportunity to work for a local 501(c)3 Non-Profit! *
We provide long term care to special needs cats in a cage free Sanctuary environment while also providing compassionate and humane resources to effect positive change in community cat populations through Trap, Neuter and Return program and spay/neuter programs.
*Position Overview:*
+The Assistant Cat CareTechnician ensures the safety, sanitation, and upkeep of the premises- the interior, exterior, and ground portion of the sanctuary.
Identifies and prioritizes daily needs.
Gives great attention to detail.
Works quickly and accomplishes assigned tasks during each shift.
Communicates any sign of distress of any cat to staff technicians.
Handles cats in a safe and respectful manner and understands that any cat, at any time, may bite.
Aware of all inventories and shelter supplies that are directly used and makes staff technicians aware of low supply levels.
Is aware of nonprofit need for good stewardship and frugal use of donated supplies.
Monitors all cats for signs/symptoms of illness and communicates any changes immediately.
Ability to clean all areas of sanctuary
Ability to do basic cat care (nail trims, flea meds, etc.
)
Ability to restrain properly in necessary situations
*Working Environment:*
Possible exposure to infectious organisms, animal waste, allergens, chemical materials requiring OSHA Safety Data Sheets and handling of semi tame or feral cats.
*Physical Demands:*
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
Work is performed both in and outdoors which requires lifting, bending, stooping, pushing and other moderately strenuous activities.
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
*Job Requirements:*
* At least one year of recent experience in a veterinary/shelter/kennel/cleaning setting
* Ability to perform routine animal care tasks and other duties as assigned
* Good Communication Skills
* Team Player
* High school diploma or GED
* Must be willing and able to work with animals and have a basic understanding of the needs and behavior of fractious and companion cats.
Must be able to handle individual animals in caring, safe, and humane manner
* Valid Driver’s License
