GENERAL DESCRIPTION Summer Internships are available at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV).
The Summer Internship positions are available to students enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited college, university, vocational, trade, or technical school.
Summer Internships are paid, full-time, temporary employment positions that begin no earlier than May 15, 2024 and end no later than August 31, 2024.
Under the supervision of the Internal Audit Director or senior team members, an intern performs work that introduces the student to entry level professional auditing, advisory work, and/or research work.
Detailed instructions regarding specific duties are provided at the beginning of the assignment.
Work is closely supervised and reviewed for accuracy throughout the internship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES Performs work as assigned by the Internal Audit Director or senior team members.
Examples of work may include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs research pertaining to audit or advisory topics, legislation, or related issues.
Assists with planning, organizing, and conducting audits advisories.
Assists in collecting quantitative and qualitative data to perform analysis and reach conclusions.
Assists in verifying information contained within obtained Department records.
Assists in verifying compliance with state and/or federal guidelines and requirements.
Prepares written documentation on work performed.
Uses automated systems for working papers, word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Communicates results of work performed with team members or other stakeholders.
Required to attend work regularly and adhere to approved work hours in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Skill in effective oral communications.
Skill in writing in a clear and concise manner.
Skill in effectively working in a team environment.
Skill in using standard business software programs, including Word and Excel to prepare reports, memos, summaries, and analyses; basic level typing skills required.
Ability to gather, identify, and analyze accurate and relevant audit findings and recommendations.

Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Currently enrolled or graduated within the past 12 months from an accredited college, university, vocational, trade, or technical school with a grade point average of 2.

Preferred Requirements: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or public administration.
Undergraduates: completion of at least 90 semester hours of undergraduate course work At least nine semester hours of upper division accounting course work GPA of 3.
0 or higher in major course work ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE A valid Class "C" driver's license is required.
If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct department business.
