SENIOR CORPORATE ACCOUNTANT
The Senior Accountant works under the direction of the Senior Accounting Manager on all accounting functions of a publicly traded hospitality REIT.
The ideal candidate for this position would be a self-motivated, hands-on accountant with at least 4 years of experience and a control focused approach, an attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Responsibilities include the following:
Preparation of corporate accounting areas (including property taxes, debt, restricted cash, insurance, etc)
Assist with data gathering and preparation of cash forecasts for corporate entities
Prepare accounting journal entries related to non-recurring transactions and month end close
Resolve intercompany discrepancies and present balance explanations to corporate tax team
Assist with quarterly tie out process of SEC filed reports
Increase productivity by developing automated applications; eliminating duplications, coordinating information requirements
Interact and communicate with property manager accountants frequently to coordinate activities and resolve problems or issues that arise on a monthly basis
Provide fixed assets purchase information to third-party consultants to determine use tax payment requirements
Prepare budget reports.
Review and analyze general ledger and budgetary information and coordinate the explanation of budget variances
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAP
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes
Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers and other accounting and finance related professionals
Complete adequately designed and appropriately executed controls to comply with Section 404 (SOX) requirements
Education and experience requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited university
Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience
Audit experience preferred
Public company experience preferred
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a forward thinking ‘can-do’ attitude
Extensive account reconciliation experience
Analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to multitask and a team focused approach
Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially working with Excel spreadsheets
